Funny Feelings 3 Days Post-Op

Hey everybody, I just had my gastric bypass on Wednesday (3/12/08) and I'm feeling a little weird.  Okay, let me explain it.  When I lie down to go to sleep it makes me feel queasy and my stomach area starts feeling like it's shifting or something.  Like rocking the boat kinda feeling.  So then I'll get up, take a phergan (nausea medicine) and drink some Pepto and try to lay back down.   Well I will get to sleep after a little while, but then I'll wake again with that weird motion-in-the-ocean feeling.  I only feel BETTER when I get up and sit in my computer chair.  I was wondering if any of you experienced this odd queasy-motion-sickness type thing first few days out of surgery?  Thanks! Oh, and I haven't vomited yet, it just gives me the sensation that I MIGHT vomit (I have nothing in my stomach to come up maybe except bile anyway).  Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks.

You're just 3 days post-op. I think I might be normal since this all new plumbing. Some people do just have a few problems after RNY. You'll be ok. If you have a recliner try sleeping in that until your nausea subsides. Jan

I was very nauseated after my surgery for weeks actually. Were you cleared to take the Pepto because I know for a fact you were given blood thinners in the hospital those were the shots they put in your stomach. All of Dr. Richardson's patients get them. If I am not mistaken I also believe that Pepto is an NSAID which we are not to take because it can cause an ulcer. You need to call the office and talk to Jennifer or Diana and find out before you continue to take the Pepto.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Yeah, I know, my mom actually just told me about Pepto being an NSAID!  So needless to say I stopped taking that.  I will take maalox from now on. And I'm actually not nauseated unless I don't get my liquids in.

Can we take maalox? I didn't think we could. Anyway, maybe you could try gasX. It comes in a thin strip and it helps calm my stomach.

Grr, I don't know.  I'll just have to ask my doctor what we can and can't take for upset stomach I guess.
