I just signed on tonight and I was so glad to see you back.  I have been checking for you every night.  How was your hospital stay?  How long were you in the hospital?  How are you feeling?

Hey Lynn, I went in on the 19th and d/c on the 20th. It went great. Such a wonderful place to stay. Southern Surgical in Slidell. Nothing but good things to say about this facility. I received 3 breathing treatments and they watched me use the spirometer. The staff was very friendly. Each bariatric patient had a private room with a bed for someone to stay with you. No infection rates there. I'm doing everything I'm suppose to do to get well and make sure my recovery is on track. I'm feeling pretty good. Just some quirky weird feelings sometimes in the belly. I guess that's normal. My first post-op appt. is next Friday and a visit to the nutritionist. I walk every day and I can get all my fluids in and more. So, all is well for now. Thanks for asking. BTW: How are you??

I am glad everything went well.  Your hospital experience sounds great.  Mine wasn't that good at Lakeview Regional. That is great that you are getting all your fluids in.  I still can not get 64 ozs of fluid in.  I just hate water so I drink Crystal Light.  I just am not one to drink all the time.  It will really help your weight loss to drink a lot. How are your incisions doing?  I used my blow dryer on cool setting to dry my incisions after my shower.  I went back to work at 2 and 1/2 weeks after surgery and the incisions were still draining.  I should have waited on going back because I was very tired. I wonder if Dr Lavin uses the same calendar of food stages, clear liquid, then full liquid, then puree, then solids.  Do they still recommend waiting til 6 months to add ham, pork and beef? I hope you continue to do well.  Take care.

I started out on Crystal Lite and I'm drinking water now just to mix it up. I drink 2 Crystal Lite bottles and fill them up with water for the last two. I'm not a good drinker to begin with either. My incisions are doing great. I'll remember the hair dryer tip. Yep, Dr. Lavin uses the same protocol. Waiting 6 months out for heavy meats. This morning I'm feeling depressed and not in the mood to do anything but it on the sofa watching TV and surfing on the net. Cant get into my knitting. I hate that I had to resort to this major surgery. I hate that my husband and I cant go out for dinner on Thurs and Sat nites. Right now I'm regretting he surgery. I guess this is normal.....buyers remorse, I suppose. I just cant seem to get out of this funk I'm in. Anyway, didn't mean to vent so much. Jan

Jan, This is totally normal to feel depressed.  Once you start losing huge amounts of weight, you will be so glad that you had the surgery. Before surgery, my husband and I went out to eat every single night.  My friends told me that I would not be able to do that once I had surgery.  Well, I proved them wrong.  We even went out during the clear liquid stage.  We went to Five Happiness and I ordered egg drop soup and only ate the broth, no egg.  We went to seafood restaurants and I ordered gumbo, but only ate the broth.  Now I either share my husband's entree or take my leftovers home. You ought to go out and eat tonight.  I think it would help you a lot.  You can email me privately, if you like.  I am at crj129 at yahoo.com.  Take care.

Jan, I understand the funk you are in right now.... I had my surgery right before Christmas and we had to go out to dinner with some friends Christmas eve.  We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and at that point I was still on clear liquids.  It was hard but I just told myself one day I would be able to have that food and afterall I should enjoy the company as much as the food.  That was hard cuz I really didn't like these people at all.  They were more business assc. of my husbands.....I cooked the Christmas dinner and still could not have it, that was very hard but I needed to cook for my family or so I thought....You will have the funk it is so normal.....just post when you do....I know this board is so slow so try to find another forum for you...this site has so many....I don't post much but I can sit for hours reading others on the different forums.... I am glad you had a positive hospital stay and all is going well..take one day at a time..you will do amazing...

Howdy! Glad to hear that you are bored ... beats unbearable pain, right?  I'm going to catch up on either work or sleep today. My little girl is on an outing. Don't know where to start...I guess with some hot chocolate milk. Frances

If you are not too nauseous, I highly recommend savory, nice-smelling boths -- served ultra hot. I don't do much protein drinks, but I do heat up my low-fat milk to steaming and drink it with SF Nesquick. Warm, favorful liquids fill me up and are very comforting.

I'm not sure if I'm in pain -- I'm in panic. I got clear enough to think about all the things I didn't get accomplished last week going to Our Lady of the Lake, Oschners, radiology clinics, EGD places -- I'm sooo behind.

If the milk sits well, I'll try to avoid nausea medicine today and get some work done. I'm about 3/4 of the way finished .... so far .... so good.
