I Love New Orleans and my suggestion is just to enjoy some of the "culture" . . The street car ride through the Garden District is wonderful -- and so inexpensive . . . also, you'll want to walk down Decateur Street and see lots of things and there's even a flea market at the end . . . I don't know what area you'll be staying in, but definitely go to the Riverwalk shopping area and there's areas out there just to sit around (by the river) and "socialize" ---- there's even a Starbucks close . . . . they also have chartered bus tours that you might be interested in --- Cajun Queen and Creole Queen cruises -- some dinner cruises and others just go out for a couple hours. go to Grayline Tours (I believe it's www. graylineneworleans.com) and they have lots of tours and also www.bigeasy.com and www.notours.com ----- just be careful both during the day and at night--- be aware of your surroundings at all times --- not trying to scare you because I go all the time and have never had a problem --- but lots of tourists, etc. in New Orleans ------ Enjoy!
