Hi guys!! I have a date first off!!! Yahoo!!! I will have my surgery on Monday February the 18th at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge!!!  Please keep me in y'all prayers that all goes well!!!  I am wondering about the chewable multi vitamins...the Dr suggest that I order some from Bariatricadvantage.com , there are several of them and I am not sure as to which one that I really need..Any one out there know which one is the best and the one that Dr Leblancs office recommends??  Is it true that you can get the same amount of vitamins if you take 2 chewable flintstones??   Also the Dr suggest chewable calcium Citrate 1000mg...is that besides the multi vitamin??? getting a bit confused. Also what about protein drinks and such, what do you guys recommend is the best way to make sure I get my full 70-80grams of protein.  I hear that the unflavored protein Unjury is good..any info would be appreciated!!  Thanks OH  friends.

Patricia, I take the Centrum chewable vitamins.  I also take the Citracal chewable Creamy Bites. I take a lot of other vitamins also.  I drink 3 protein shakes every day.  My favorite is Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Cookies & Cream.  Good luck with your surgery.

Patricia, I buy my protein at proflexsports.com because they ship promptly and it comes from the Houston area and only takes 2 days to get to my house.  You can buy the chocolate, vanilla and sometimes banana at the Vitamin Shoppe in New Orleans and Slidell.  I have never seen the cookies and cream at the Vitamin Shoppe. I would first order samples of protein from vitalady.com.  Then you can decide what protein you like.  I mix 1 and 1/2 scoops of protein with 5 oz of water, 4 ice cubes and blend in my Bullet.  I usually add SF syrup or one teaspoon of dry SF Jello pudding mix.  I do not use milk in my shakes as it adds carbs and calories.

I use Bariatric advantage Tropical flavored, they are good, dont taste like vitamins, for RNY you will need 2 a day , for us DSers we need 3 a day.

I take the Centrum chewable as well. They're fairly cheap, don't taste too bad, and I can get them in the commissary. I also found chewable calcium citrate tablets. They have them in Target, and it's the Target brand. They're not too great, but I chew it along with my Centrum, which helps.

I take Solotron Multi + iron from GNC twice a day. They are berry flavored and come 90 in the bottle for about  13$ with the Gold Card. ...I love them and now my husband takes them too. I just found out that Citracal  Creamy Bits are being discontinued....ugh...now I will have to find another calcium....or probably go back to  Bariatric Advantage  Calciun Citrate Wild Flavored chewables, 2 a day.  It  takes a while to learn which are the best for you and what is OKed by your nut. I really want to keep better track of what my labs are doing...I heard it is hard to build up iron and calcium once it fall into low levels. All of this is pretty new to most of us, but hey, this is all part of the new life choices we made....To be healthy!!!! I have tried so many different protien drinks ...make sure you check the fat and calories ....but now I use Unjury vanilla....yumm! Best of luck on your upcoming surgery, .....hummmmm....a good valantine for  your 'heart'...before you know it you'll be throwing away all those blood pressure med.....It's ALL worth it. Be strong in the Lord, and know that He walks beside you.

Hey Chicky!!!  I'm soooo excited for you!  YAY! I use the centrum chewables.  They are ok...  Cheap, which I like.  But then again I never remember to take them so one bottle has lasted me 6 months now...  LOL!  I use the viactive calciums, but I just found out that it's a calcium carbonate and not a calcium citrate so it's not absorbed as well.  From the Bariatricadvantage.com website, the cinnamon is my fav out of all the flavors!!!  Very cinnamony! I haven't used protein suppliments in a while, but when I do I use the 100% Whey Protein Cookie and Cream from GNC.  It's one of the best cookies and cream flavors I've tried.   You also want to add a sublingual b-12 suppliment a few times a week.  That will help get your energy level back up after surgery. I'm so glad I got to see you last thursday!!!  I hope I get to see you on Wed. too.  I'll be with Brandon so if you are still around, you'll have to give me a call and maybe we can meet up. Let me tell you, I got on the scale this morning and I weighed 275!!  I've lost 150 pounds!!!!!  Just think, you are going to be telling me the same thing in a few months!!!!!!!!!!!!!  And I SOOO can't wait to hear it!!! Love ya chick and sending you bunches of hugs!!!!!
