The date is on........
Hey La WLS people. I'm getting scared, nervous and the emotions are all over the place. I have a good Dr. My daughter is coming in to take care of me. I have to go and get all the things I need before and after surgery. I've been on the opti-fast diet for 2 days and it seems like 2 weeks. Anyone give me some advice on how to handle the nervousness?? J
I like the famous military command: AS YOU WERE!
Relax or plan by trying supplements, experimenting with things/cooking for the liquid phase, or just thinking about all the positives that will come with the negatives on the scale.
Congrats, good luck!
Frances
PS: I don't know who, but there are folks from Metaire who meet from time to time. I hope you find them.

The emotions run wild at this point. I have a funny story to tell about my emotions, kind of long but...
I had to have emergency surgery one week prior to my first scheduled WLS and had to reschedule, I had a major absess that had to be surgically drained and until all the infection was gone they would not do the WLS. I got a new date and about a week to a week and a half before I started having an upset stomach, I do this when I get nervous. I was taking Pepto Bismol around the clock. It did calm my stomach to a degree. Well four days prior to my surgery (TMI) my stools got very black. I totally freaked out. I had a aunt who has passed from colon cancer and it was discovered when she started having balck stools, diahrea. Anyway I have nine million thoughts going through my head. I didn't want to say anything for fear the surgery would be cancelled again. I had to the end of Dec then my insurance would change and I didn't want to fight an exclusion all over again and possible not win with the new insurance. I was taking my 14 yr old son someplace and he noticed I was not "right" I told him to please say a heavy duty prayer for me cuz something was really wrong. He pressed me and I told him what was going on....he started laughing his hiney off. I was boiling mad at this point. Anyways, he said mom have you ever read the back of the pepto bismol bottle? No, not my idea of reading material. I was being a smart ass because he was laughing so hard. He said taking a lot of pepto will turn your stools dark/black. Ok so I put myself into more of a nervous state than need be.....When I got home I read the back and sure enough that was the cause.
Yea what you are going through is so normal.... I totally freak out when I have a scheduled surgery. When I had my gallbladder and absess I already felt like I was on death's door and was nervous at all I think because of the pain I was in.....
My advise, if you get an upset tummy and have to take Pepto Bismol, know it can do funny things to your poop.....
You will do fine and you will appreciate all the nervousness and everything once you are on the loser's bench seeing results.
My best to you...
