How long did you wait to have alcohol?

I am not really a drinker, mostly just the occasional drink with friends every now and then. How long did you wait to have a drink after? I also realize that those who had RNY prolly waited longer then those that had the Lap Band. Because more healing is involvd and the dumping issue from the sugar. I was banded 2 1/2 weeks ago. I also heard people say no carbonation cause it could expand your pouch. So if you have had a drink what do you mix with if no sprite or coke? Also I know it's empty calories, but I didn't do this surgery to not enjoy a night out with friends and such. So just curious.

Thanks for reading :)

I was told to wait one year, but I think it is mostly because of the empty calories. They want you to lose as much weight as you can in the first year, and alcohol can REALLY slow that down. Jen

I was driking wine at around 3 months post-op.   As long as you don't dump on it and drink it in moderation you should be fine.   1 glass = 3 glasses pre-op now for me.  I feel a buzz within 30 seconds of the first sip.
