Scared!!!!
Dr. Lavin did a very good friend of mine's Lap Band surgery and the aftercare is very good. There can be problems with whatever route you take, so the best advice is to weigh it all out, plan well and follow aftercare orders very carefully.
Not sure what you are dealing with other than a hiatal hernia, but it sounds like you have all the facts in front of you.
Hope you have a pleasant journey.

Hey Frances, I do have a hernia, which Dr. Lavin will repair when he gets in. But, the main concern is that my blood pressure is extremely high. I'm not saying that I'm morbidly obese, but I'm severly overweight 245Lbs at 5' 7". Taking Sular 10mg, Mycardis 80mg and Tekturna 300mg and my husband is bumping me up to Sular 20mg just to get the BP down before surgery. Its been a real struggle. I'm hoping to fix this thing now. J

I can truly relate. I've had a couple of ICU-type bouts with my blood pressure. When I've been on a long list of things there's usualy one or two things that have stopped working for me. People usually see an immediately relief in blood pressure with just 10-20 pounds loss, but I had some other health scares and remained ....uh, mmm...high strung and exciteable, I guess one could say. My co-morbidities responded nicely -- sleep apnea, diabetes -- but the blood pressure has been a challenge from time to time.
I understand the struggle and would encourage you to remember the affects of relaxation and calmness on some hypertensive patients.
Wish you well,
Frances
