Can you eat boudin after surgery?
Hiya Billy
I'm from Lake Charles -- born and raised. I'm sure some food nazi will jump in here and give us both a firm finger shake, but WHO CARES.
Answer: Yes, I can eat boudin. I also can rice with my red beans which are great protein sources in themselves. Speaking of rice, I didn't start eating sushi until after my Lap Band surgery. I figured I had problems with overcooked and dry protein, so I opted for raw. Nice.
This isn't the popular stance, but in the best situations, you will not have a long list of things you CAN'T eat after banding. You should develop a smaller appetite for certain foods and with time, hopefully one's choice becomes better also. Smaller portions and better choices can get one there without food intolerances and getting sick when making a mistake.
Wish you well,
Frances

I love boudin. I think it's a pretty good protein source. What I do different with any sausage that I eat now, I make sure to cook it off in a little water. I keep adding water little by little until the sausage is cooked. Then I drain it on paper towels. You get the same wonderful taste, but with a whole lot less fat.
You know us Louisiana people have to find a way to make our wonderful food more weight loss friendly.
I live in Lake Charles also. I had VSG on 12/28. I have eaten gumbo--no rice or meat. It was wonderful on liquid phase. I have also had mashed red beans--no rice or meat. It was heaven on the mushie stage. You just have to be creative on our cajun foods. Good luck to you and your surgery. We have a support group in Lake Charles that meets on the 2nd Thursday at Women & Children's. It is run by Dr. Chung but there are patients that have had surgery other places that attend. Please feel welcome.
Hello Billy!
