Endoscopy?

   I heard someone say they had to have an endoscopy done and I was wondering what that is if anyone knows?

An endoscopy is when they put a scope down your throat and look at your stomach. 

I've had several. The first was pre-surgery when I was being checked for GERD (which I had). Then I had another one about 2 mos. after my surger when I developed a stricture. The surgeon went in and stretched the opening between my stomach and my intestines so more food could pass through. She did another one about 2 weeks later and I've had no problems since. They give you a kind of twilight sleep, but I don't remember anything at all. I did get kind of sick after the last one (from the anesthesia I think) and I had to stay there about 2 hours instead of 45 min. Hope this helps, Jen
