I'm supposed to be having my gastric by-pass surgery at Omega Hospital and I want to know if anyone else has had their surgery there. I've never heard of the hospital before and I was interested in hearing others experience.

I know of someone that had her surgery there about three months ago and she said it was wonderful. Hope everything turns out good for you.

I will be having my RNY at Omega on December 17th.  I've been there many times.  It's a small yet cozy hospital.  I don't know of anyone who's had surgery there though.  Dr. Lavin is doing my RNY. What is your date?

Hello Ebony, I'm happy to hear that you are still moving forward toward your goal. Congrats on the date. Of course you know that you will be in excellent hands. Brads Gym has closed in Baker, so maybe when you get back on your feet we can explore some power-walking or bike riding. I'll be thinking about your and lifting your name up to the Father. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you and your little dude. All my best, Frances

Hello Frances you are truely a jewel.  You are always so thoughtful of others and their needs.  So many people are all about self these days and it's unfortunately all to easy to be consumed with self if you allow your thoughts to do so.  I heard that Brad's is closed and that the members now have to go to the gym that is now owned by the church on Highway 19 in Baker.  The membership fee has doubled from what i've been told and it's a smaller facility. The women have less privacy now than they did at Brad's. I've attempted to do Walk Away the Pounds tapes before my big day. I managed to do the 3 mile tape 3 times last week.  I was a bit winded but confident that my endurance will increase as I continue to exercise and begin to lose weight.  I hope all is well with you and your family.   Thank you so much for your prayers. God hears them all.  I will keep in touch and up date you on my progress once i've had the surgery. I'll give my mother my cell phone during and after the surgery so if you'd like to call she'd gladly talk to you.  Onward I go!

Hey Jennifer -- I don't know anyone that had surgery at Omega, but I do go to support group meetings there on occasions. The people in the group love that hospital, and everyone seems so nice. Good luck to you.

I had surgery at Omega to repair my band after it slipped.  I later had it revised to RNY at Southern Surgical in Slidell.  Omega is awesome and the care was excellent.  I had complications so I was there almost a week.  I could not have asked for better treatment from the staff.  Dr Michael Thomas is my surgeon.
