Hello all,

I have been watching this forum for a while hoping to find some info on doctor's that take La. Medicaid. Well I have found one. In January of this year I had to have arthoscopic knee surgery, well when I went back for my post-op checkup, my ortho doctor informed that if I don't lose a significant amount of weight fast that both my knees would give out on me. I told him that I was open to gastric bypass surgery and if he could find a doctor that takes Medicaid that I would do it. Well he referred me to the Charity General Surgery Clinic on Poydras St. in New Orleans. They told me that Charity does take Medicaid for gastric bypass, only for the sleeve though. Well they set me up with an appointment to see the doctor who does the surgery and I see him on the 23rd of April. I also have an appointment with a nutrionist as well. But I have asked the people in the office if Medicaid is taken for certain and they all said yes, especially if a doctor is saying that surgery is in your best interest. In my case it is. I will come back after everything is set up ( hopefully) and post what is what. I figure that if the state of Louisiana can pay $14,000 for my knee surgery and they are still bothering me, they can $20,000 to silence the problem for good.

Hope this helps yall

Hello,

This is wonderful news.  I tried to search google for a phone number and could not find anything.

Do you have a phone number and name of the surgeon?

Thanks,
Kathy

Kathy,

It's no one particular surgeon to speak of. It is a General Surgery Clinic and they assign a doctor to you. My appt with the actual surgeon is April 16 and that' s when I meet him or her face to face. The clinic is at the Medical Center of Louisiana on Poydras St in New Orleans. I don't have a phone number I walked into the clinic because my doctor had sent my referral to them. I went in on a Monday morning for about 8am and I was there until at least 1pm, so prepare for a long day.

Hope this helps

The main phone number to the clinic is (504) 903-2373 or 5167 but your doctor has to schedule the first visit.
