I'm jumping on the band wagon since you are in the Baton Rouge area. Our doctors are top notch and looks like you are gathering our support group members to your side already.
It does sadden me that Vista is changing once again. I had my surgery there and later had a (unrelated to bariatrics) week and two more surgeries there. The staff was unbelieveable to me and my family.
Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help while you look for someone new in Baton Rouge. Even after you decide, please know that our support system here transcends practice, hospital and surgery type.
You will just be a loser in our books.
Onward!

Hi Patricia!
I came back to Louisiana 14 years ago and I was in newspapers most of that time. That said, many of my long-time coworkers are alumi of the Thibodeaux and Houma newspapers. My best friend is from Raceland. Soooo, although I'm from Lake Charles, I know Thibodaux and Houma well.
Our support group has some alum from your area and I went to an OH convention with a friend from Morgan City.
No matter where you decide to have surgery, I hope we can keep in touch. I know about all the practices in south Louisiana and, trust me, there's not a bad apple in the bunch, although that whole "self-pay-insurance" decision by Bellanger does suck big time. There's an interesting story behind that about how some doctors prefer dealing with insurance cases, but others, like yours, are actually more geared to the self-pay patients. I was at a Senate hearing where he actually testified against any action that would mandate insurance coverage in Louisiana for weight loss surgery. He said he truly feels that self-pay patients are more motivated and he thinks it would be detrimental if everyone who qualified was insurance-covered.
Well, being a patient with insurance coverage, I just disagreed with that all day long. Takes all kinds, I guess.
I wish you well and please let us know if we can help you shake some trees in getting your process moving.
Onward!
Frances
