2 Weeks Post Op Slump

Can anyone help me.  I had the Lap-Band procedure on Thursday, 10/04/07 (2 weeks ago).  I actually had my first fill the Monday after surgery 10/8/07 1 CC.  I was able to begin eating solid foods per my doctor and all is well.  I am tolerating what I am eating and I am eating right, my proteins first, then vegetables, no carbohydrates, etc.  I had lost 12 lbs pre-op through the liquid diet and 9 lbs post-op and now I am at a stand still and have been since I started eating the solid foods. Can anyone explain to me why my body isn't breaking down the fat.  By the way I walk approximately 1-1/2 miles to 2 miles a day. Help - getting frustrated! lildada

A lot of people still haven't lost an ounce 14 days after surgery because they pump you full of fluid during surgery. It looks like you lost 21 lbs in less than a month. Right?

Don't worry about it. Give your body time to heal and you'll start losing. Everyone loses at a different rate, so just hang in there, and leave the scale alone this early out. Good luck.

Thanks Dianna, the 21 lbs were broken down 12 pre-op during my 2 week of full liquids and 9 lbs post -op I guess this is good in itself.  I will be patient - thanks for the encouragement!

Hi lildada, Can you tell me about your experience with Dr. Stevens office submitting your documents to your insurance? How long did it take?

Dr. Steven's office was very fast in filing my insurance after I completed all of the requirements of my insurance carrier.  Once it was filed I received an answer from my insurance on approximately September 6th and I received my surgery date that day and it was schedule October 4th. My experience with Dr. Chu/Stevens/Cunninghams office has been wonderful.  Jeannine in the insurance department is great! So I gather you are awaiting an answer from your insurance company?

Thanks, maybe I am too anxious because I have been working on this for  a year and hoping to have the surgery for three years. Patience is not one of my best attributes at this time.

Are you drinking all your water? I find that is really helping me. I had my first fill yesterday. It's very common for your weightloss to stall 3 weeks after surgery. Give it a week and you'll probably start loosing again. They say that any weight loss prior to proper restriction is just lagniappe. Don't get discouraged! It will happen.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. -

You know I am not drinking enough water and I'm sure that is one of the factors, but I am going to be more serious about the water.  Thanks for the encouragement - I am happily awaiting!
