I have a question. This is my 5th day after surgery and I feel so bloated. I am passing gas but have not had a real bowel movement . Is this normal. Oh, and the scale is still not moving.

First off Carrie, welcome to the loser's bench. Bloating is very common at the stage you are at so don't fret unless you become very uncomfortable.  As for the BM, you will find it will change post-op, especially right now when your intake has changed tremendously from pre-op.  However, be sure to continue to monitor the situation and call your doc if you are having continued issues with it. And as for the scale, stay away from it right now, with surgery and all of the liquids pumped into you it takes time for your body to get rid of them.   Be sure to sip, sip, sip and follow your post-op surgical plan. Welcome Aboard, enjoy your personal journey!

Thanks for the advice.  But my wow moment came when I Had a bowel movement this morning. So I guess things are all right in that area. Carolyn

Ms. Carrie: I think the bloating is normal, and as long as you are passing gas you should be OK. I think though that not having a BM for 5 days, I would have to call and let the doctor know. When I had my surgery I had a BM a day or so after, but I am usually a daily person. I can tell you, though, I have had some problems with constipation since my surgery, and that is miserable. I am now 4 1/2 months post op and have lost 101 pounds. I wish you the best of luck, and keep up the good work the scale will start moving!! Titania

You are doing a terrific job in your weight loss. Do you go to a gym or exercise at home?  My daughter-in-law Cassie said she knows about you and that you are an inspiritation to a lot of people . Maybe some day we could me or ride together to a support group.? Carolyn

You should call your doctor.  Did they give you instructions when you left the hospital about bowel movements?  My doctor told us what to do if we had a problem.

I'm still feeling great. Today we took a quick trip to Houma. First stop GNC, next Sam's, then Lowes. The worst part was that cement road leading to the mall...it's really bumpy! Ouch! I'm so thankful I haven't had any complications so far. I pray that it continues.  It was good to see your husband ready to take the WL journey with you. I'm sure you will both be very glad once the  surgeries are over. I love your picture! I still haven't furgured out how to post mine.

Can anyone help me.  I had the Lap-Band procedure on Thursday, 10/04/07 (2 weeks ago).  I actually had my first fill the Monday after surgery 10/8/07 1 CC.  I was able to begin eating solid foods per my doctor and all is well.  I am tolerating what I am eating and I am eating right, my proteins first, then vegetables, no carbohydrates, etc.  I had lost 12 lbs pre-op through the liquid diet and 9 lbs post-op and now I am at a stand still and have been since I started eating the solid foods. Can anyone explain to me why my body isn't breaking down the fat.  By the way I walk approximately 1-1/2 miles to 2 miles a day. Help - getting frustrated! lildada
