I'm home from the hospital and feeling pretty good. My first experience with water was pretty bad....Ihad to stop for about 6 hours.... but started up again with no complications. It feel really strange being on the other side of WLS....It's hard to believe I did it. I lost 13 lbs on the 2 week liquid pre op but  gained about 12 lbs. the day after surgery...What's that all about?!!!! Oh well, I not going to victim to a scale....that could get depressing. I hope I can make the meeting Tuesday....is it at noon? Hope to see you all soon. Carolyn

Getting on the scale the day after surgery is not wise because what you see if both depressing and confusing. The massive amounts of IV fluids usually causes quite a bit of water weight and fluid retention. It's pretty much impossible to gain 12 pounds in a day, but 12 pounds of water weight is common. At some point, it will all be released from your tissue and it will seem like you lost a massive amount of weight in a day. Really, this does happen. Stay the course, sip as much water as you can and keep moving. Those simple steps will help both the gas and fluid retention issues. Here's to a great journey, Frances

Congrats on your surgery. The weight gain is from the iv fluid. It will take days to get it all out of your system.

Thanks for the info. I thought it might be the iv fluids but wasn't sure.
