The big day is getting closer and I am getting more and more nervous!  I have worn my self out finding myself eating all these foods I love to eat that I will not be able to have for a very long time.  Did any of you do that before your surgery?  I have gained 7 pounds in 3 weeks!

Congrats on the big day. I hope that you can stop seeing yourself as "grieving the food" and get a taste of the wellness that is to come. Being a restriction procedure, you will eventually have a wide range of food types to eat in moderation. It's not a bad thing and as your habits change, your desires for the worse of the worse will also change. I highly recommend you stop the feast now because you don't want to go into surgery with your body still harboring all that addictive food residue that it will continue to crave. Cravings do change when we change what's inside our bodies. This week, I've craved black beans, grilled meat and avocadoes. Changing the choice and habits that contribute to obesity is a slow and long process. Please don't feel that by eating it all one last time then having surgery will turn your desires "cold turkey." "All the foods you love to eat" statements speak of somethings both chemical and emotional. We really do begin to crave (addictions) certain fast foods and high carbohydrate items. The Sleeve won't take these cravings away -- but you will. By slowly removing the high amount of this stuff in your system, you will find that you actually "love" them less.   I hope I don't seem like a "know-it-all" because my process isn't over. I have lots more weight to lose and I have some heathly habits that haven't taken root yet, but I can truly say that the process does work. The Sleeve will work at limiting your capacity and decreasing your hunger and you will, in turn, work to develop healthier cravings and improved food choices. I'm cheering for you and will be thinking of you on Tuesday. Onward! Frances
