Hi all,  I have been waiting to have this surgery for a very long time.  My reg. Doc kept telling me I could do it myself, so I kept trying and failing, well NO more I am going for the surgery. Two of my Nurse friends have told me of a Dr. in New Iberia who does the g sleeve and the total cost is $9,300 post op visits included.  I asked his receptionist why so cheep, she said they do not take any insurance, only cash so they do not have to hire people to do that and saves them money. Dr. Borland does surgery at the Iberia surgery center.  Another Nurse friend of mine works in the operating room and has watched him do the surgery.  She also said he did this procedure on his wife and she lost weight.  I plan on calling my friend and asking if she would be in the operating room when I am having my surgery. So what do you think.

Welcome! I am new here too! I wish you well, and I hope that you can get what you want and need in order to better your life. The first few weeks are rough, but as time passes it does get easier. Well, good luck and keep us posted! Tie

Hi Dee. Welcome to OH. I did extensive research before my surgery and found Dr. Hargroder to be one of the most, if not THE most, qualified bariatric surgeons in the southern United States. What really attracted me to him is at the time of my surgery he had yet to lose a patient. I think that one of the 800 or so he did had passed away from a pulmonary embolism but he hadn't lost one in surgery. His staff is the best so that was a big plus for me as well. You should try to make it to one of the Wednesday support group meetings if you get a chance. They are at his office in the Vista hospital complex in Baton Rouge. It seems like he's doing more and more sleeves now and less and less RNYs so there will be plenty of people in the meeting to give you their experiences with that particular surgery. Good luck and I wish you the best!
