Many of us were shocked at Tuesday's support group to learn that Melissa passed away a couple of weeks ago after a long battle with cancer.  She was the Bariatric Clinical Care Coordinator at Ochsner and so instrumental in many of us having successful WLS at Ochsner.  For me personally, she battled with my insurance company for months to get my approval and was only an email away for any issues I had pre- and post-op.  My condolences and prayers go to the staff at Ochsner and her family.  She will be sorely missed by all.

Also wanted to add that her user name on OH was wolf2001.  She posted on this forum occasionally.

I was also very shocked when Laura mentioned this. I know it was only like maybe a month ago that I spoke with her and as always she seemed so upbeat and happy. The day she called me at work to let me know my insurance sent the approval I think she was more excited than I was and it was like that every time I spoke with her. She will be missed alot by many people Im sure and her family needs all the prayers they can get.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. I figured she had cancer last time I saw her you could tell she was having chemo or radiation. I will miss her. Pattie

I too was shocked to hear of Melissa's passing. I had only met her a couple of times, but she was the one who helped me get over the nerves of having the surgery. I like so many others will miss her. I know she has a place in heaven!

I just gasped when I read your post.  When I saw Melissa in June, she had a hat on as she had lost her hair.  We chatted for a good while but I had no idea the end was near for her.  She was talking about shortening her work weeks, etc. and she spoke of how wonderful her husband was -- and that he had offered to shave his head for her.     She told me this was her second battle with the cancer - I think it started about five years ago - but had come back and spread.  What a shame and at such a young age.   I was just thinking of how I used to call her with post-op issues which now seem so trivial in light of the fact that she was battling cancer.
