Newbie saying hi

I have decided lap band is for me.  I am getting blood work and upper GI done before they will schedule my surgery.  My bloodwork appt is next Monday.  I am excited and nervous.  But most of all I am tired of being overweight!   Please anyone send me any advice etc. Mary

Congratulations on you decision to live a healthier life.  I too am going to have wls, hopefully sometime next month.  My choice of surgeries is the duodenal switch.  I looked at the band, then the rny and finally decided on the DS.   Much success with your lapband. Regina

I am in Pineville/ Alexandria area.  A friend of mine used Dr. Lavin so I am going to use him as well.  Do you have any advice?

Welcome.  You have chosen a great doctor. Dr. Lavin did my surgery and I think he's the best.

It is very encourging to see everyones results.  I got a little anxious yesterday and wondering if I can really do this.  I know it won't be long before my surgery will be here so I am treating every meal like it is my last.  Isn't that crazy.  That is probably not the right attitude to have.  I have been doing some self evaluation and trying ot figure out why I have gotten to where I am.  I am the largest I have every been.   I was a small child, teen, part of 20's then it started to add up.  Most of you probably k now the drill........ diet then gain more......diet then gain more.  I do want this.

Hi I have also decided lap band is for me and I am having a hard time staying off this website!  All these sucess stories I have been reading make all the waiting worthwhile, or make the waiting even harder!! LOL.... I have just begun the whole process.  Waiting to find out what insurance will cover if anything!  Im praying!!!

I am having Dr. Lavin, I hear that he is terriffic. I hadn't gotten a date yet but I was told to start my liquied diet, and I would be getting calls in the next few days for the pre op appt and the appt with Dr. Lavin. I am having the gastric bypass(RNY). I had thought about the band but seemed to be to much after care with the fillings , Do they charge everytime you get a fill? Good luck and maybe one day we will meet in the Dr.s Office. Sheila

Shelia I hope you get that call soon.  With the band the first year fills are included with price.  Not sure what they are after that.  That is on my list of questions when I speak with them again.  I have the upper GI tomorrow morning.  Results are forwarded to Dr Lavin and then i will go from there.
