I am curious if any of Dr. Hargroder's patients have to take any medicine prior to the RNY?  Not the Prev-pac but anything else?  What about liquid diet?  How long before surgery did you go on the liquid diet?

Hiya Dixie, Sorry for the OT, I'm not a Hargroder patient or an RNY postop, but I'm a big fan of PINEVILLE. I went to college there and stayed for a couple of years afterwards. I had surgery at the hospital that Dr. Hargroder uses, however, and you will like the treatment you get there. Please let me know when you are in the area and maybe we can meet for coffee or something. You can also count on me if you need anything while you are hospitalized in Baton Rouge. All my best, Frances

Thank you Frances,  That is soooo sweet of you.  Where did you go to college?  Or should I guess?  There are only two in the area and only ONE in Pineville and you would be amazed at where I work!  GO Wildcats!

Hey Dixie! Dr. Hargroder did my lap RNY on 3/26/07.  He's a great surgeon.  I haven't had any complications since surgery.  I didn't have to take any medicine prior to surgery nor did I have to go on a liquid diet.  What type of medicine are you having to take?  Best wishes to you on your surgery!

Best Wishes, Hidy

I just had my RNY with Dr. Hargroder Monday 8/20/07.  There was no diet restrictions prior to surgery othger than no solids after breakfast the day before the surgery and NPO after Midnight.  The staff was wonderful and the facility was immaculate.  Also, I had very little pain. The itching caused by the morphine was way worse then the pain the surgrery caused. Basically the tell you , "were going to give you something to help you relax". Then you wake up in ICU. ;) The only problem I had was I didn't have any output till the day I got out, so I had to get an in and out cath. I liked my nurse but didn't want to get to know her THAT well. A question, what potein supplement are you taking. I used the one from the health food store recommedned and it tore my stomach up. Any one have any sugestions?  Well, the first step is over and away I go.
