where are the La support groups?

So, where are all the support group meetings? I notice not many people even post here on the La site.  I Would love to meet and get together with peers.

Hi Dixie,  I am pre op.  Struggling with losing 30 lbs my Dr requires for surgery.  I just wanted to wish you luck and much success on your journey.  I am using Dr. Merriman in Shreveport.  This is a really slow board but maybe we can encourage more posts and turn it around.  Keep us posted.

Hi everyone! I, too, am from Louisiana. I live in Shreveport. I have had a hard time finding people around here, too. I would be interested in a northern LA support group. The doctors up here have their own groups, too. I haven't been to one yet, but my MD said his was not very well attended. I am having surgery in 4 weeks!!! Scarey! Exciting! I would love to get together with people, too. There are a few ladies in the northern part of the state that I have suggested starting a group with. Any support is appreciated.

My wife and I just got home from our support group for Lap-Band.  It is at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, LA at the Physical Fittness center.    This is the 2nd meeting we have gone to and it is very helpfull.  We meet once a month.  I was banded on May 17th by Doctor David Treen with the Surgical Clinic of Louisiana at WJMC.  You can call Michelle or Karen at 504) 349-6860 and ask them about the support groupand /or WLS.   Tell them Gary and Mary recomended them.  They are really great and I thank God they are part of my team.  Good luck and God bless. 

There is one every Wed at 6 pm at Dr Bellanger's office right in front of the Vista Surgical Center. Tonight we are doing a clothes swap.

Hi, I'm from Crowley and I have an appointment with Dr. Chung on Aug. 20th.  Were you satisfied with him?  I'm hoping to have the Vertical Sleeve.

he just did my surgery on August 7th.  I love him and his staff.  He is a very caring doctor and makes you feel so comfortable.  Good Luck on your appointment. I know you will love him. Anna
