WOW! do I remember that day of approval for my husband...like a big  relief to know good health is just a short distance down the road.  He had surgery Oct 23rd..by Jan he was off of all meds (blood pressure and diebetic meds) only takes his vits now.  He went from 350lbs to a now 230 lbs.  He has had soooo much fun buying new clothes.  He was down to 230 in less than 5 months post op.So for you by Thanksgiving you will be feeling and looking great....my daughter had her surgery July 2005 and by that Thanksgiving she looked like a totally difference person...now she is a 130 lb beautiful girl. Keep in touch with the date....and I am soooo excited for you and anyone that gets past the insurance game and headed to better health. I work in health care and see the problems that obesity people have I am a firm believer in obesity help no matter which method you take GOOD LUCK and keep in touch!

Thanks so much for your kind words.  You are so sweet and dont worry I will keep you up to date on my surgery progress.  Im waiting to hear back from my surgeons office now so I can set my date.  (fingers crossed)  IM SO ANXIOUS!  It sounds like your hubby has a great support team and he did a wonderful job.  Did he have any complications with food that he can warn me about and would he do it all over again?   Thanks again and have a blessed day!

Hi again, Yes my husband did have compliatons...he had the leak and had to return to surgery....and then after he got home from that  he slipped and started the leak all over again...we think from trying to catch himself and pulled things.  He had a feeding tube and we pushed the protein and he healed quickly.  My daughter breezed through it with no problems. To answer the question would he do it again...I heard him tell someone just last week he would do it again and my daughter will tell you real fast she would do it again. Both of them can eat just about anything.  My daughter does have problems with milk products...but only takes in small amounts.  One thing is you must eat very slow and chew well or you will get the fullness in the chest. Another  thing I can suggest is to start increasing your protein now....protein is your friend on healing and if you can get the protein in your body now it will help when you have surgery to speed up recovery. Since you shooting for the 26...this will give you a full two weeks of large amounts of protein...the protein is also your friend after surgery to keep your hair from falling out....and to curb those hunger pains and most all help with your energy level.  You will always want to get in those proteins first and then the rest of your meal.  My husband gets so tired of me saying that! Which surgery are you having?  They both had RNY. Keep in touch.
