My daughter and I went down to LSU Baton Rouge, Sunday for freshman orientation.  I really didn't want to go but knew I needed to...I had a wonderful time.  I loved the campus and just had a great time.  Looks like I will be going down often to visit her when she moves. Gosh, my baby will be starting college in just a few short weeks.  Maybe one day I will be able to meet up with some of you guys and actually get to meet some of you in person.

Frances,  I know I will be going down there often, so maybe on one of my trips we can meet for coffee or tea.  I would love to meet some of the people from this board and it does seem like most of the posters are from the BR area.  Go Tigers is right... My family  are huge Gators fan (I was born an raised to be a Gator) so this Tiger thing is really something else.  I was so hoping she would continue on with cheerleading and try out but she is done with it and said she didn't want to do it in college, now I just  hope my youngest will continue with football and maybe play in college.  Take care and hopefully one day we can meet up.  Jodi

Jodi--Your post brought back some memories for me! I started at LSU right out of high school in 1974 and went for about 2-1/2 years. Of course, I rode my bike since I grew up only a couple of miles from the campus. You also reminded me of when I dropped my first daughter off at college (Rice in Houston). I cried like a baby all the way home. At least you'll be close enough to visit often. Thanks for the memories, Jen

i am glad I brought back memories for you.  I know as excited as I am sure I will be crying like a baby too.  I do hope to go and visit often but also I understand she is wanting to be on her own and not have momma around all the time.  Plus I am looking forward to seeing just how much she may miss me or what I do for her!!!  Have a great weekend.

Both of my kids have gone to LSU, daughter graduated last December and son will graduate this summer.  I had a very hard time when they left, I guess it was because they both left at the same time.  But, I survived to tell the story and I love going to visit them and love, love it when they come home to visit!  Baton Rouge is a great place, there is so much to do and see.  She will enjoy going to school there!  Best wishes, Nonnie

Well I hope I can survive college life as a parent....Go**** must have been hard having two leave at the same time.   She was going to go to Louisiana Tech in Ruston.  Last fall the high school football team made it to the playoffs (she was a cheerleader)  and they drove over that big bridge in Baton Rouge.   When she got home (at 5 in the morning) she got in bed with me and said "mom I am going to LSU"  I asked what made her change her mind and she she driving over that bridge did something to her.  Her dad and I  really didn't want her going that far her first year but I guess we will get use to it.  I just hope she remembers she is down there to get an education.... Yes, I will take your best wishes...I might need them.  Hugs,  Jodi

My oldest wants to go there, but he's only 14 now... He'll be continuing a family tradition (as the third generation to attend LSU)... I graduated LSU in 2002 and could NOT be more proud of my INDUSTRY LEADING education there, ok ok... so I'm a BIG fan.... ok maybe not so big now... but still...... GO TIGERS!!!!

Hey Kat,  The Tigers are growing on me.  I was born and raised a Florida Gator fan.....All my family had ties to the University of Florida.  When I moved up here it was a shocker to some members of my family that I traded schools.  Oh well,  I still support the Gators as long as they are not playing LSU... I was real impressed with the campus and can't wait to go back.  My two younger kids...16 and 12 want to go there too.  My 12 year old would like to play football.  Hope he does, I was hoping Taylor would try out for cheerleading but she said she didn't want to cheer in college.  Oh well....this will be an adjustment for me since she has been cheering since 2nd grade both school and competition squads.   Congrats on your weight loss.  I know you were fighting for your approval when I started my journey over 2 years ago.  Take care,

Jodie, Your daughter will love LSU. My youngest son graduated from LSU. My oldest graduated from Southeastern in Hammond and my middle son graduated from Tulane.  I remember move in day in the dorms. What chaos!  My son got a great education at LSU and now is making big bucks and living better than his parents. His wife also graduated from LSU. What dorm will she be in?  Wait until she gets her first apartment off campus!
