Newbie

Hi all! My name is Diane and I am from Plaquemine, Louisiana. For those who that do not know where that is, it is across the river from Baton Rouge. I am contemplating WLS surgery but really have not been able to get too far with it due to my insurance company. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of La through my job. My policy has a clause that says they do not cover WLS even on the basis of medical necessity. Does anyone know how to get around that? Its really a shame when someone sitting behind a desk can make decisions on your health! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Diane

Hi Diane, I just wanted to say hi since we are neighbors, welcome.     I have Humana and my policy had and exclusion but my docs wrote a letter and sent all the documentation and I was approved on my first attempt.   I would talk to the planners at your surgeons office, they may be able to assist you.
