OT: Myrtles Plantation

Texas Ghost Hunter
on 6/3/07 8:46 am - Benbrook, TX
I am looking for any Louisiana residents that can help me with a little research regarding The Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville. We would like to plan a trip there to investigate the claims of hauntings sometime in October.  Some of the claims to me seem over the top and a bunch of media hype even for a ghost hunter. I know some of these places create these stories to draw in business, I have fallen for it a few times. This is why I am reaching out to you as locals before I go through the trouble and expense of planning this trip. I have read about other ghost hunters having experiences there but alot of these people are ones that you can show a spec of dust on a picture to and they will claim its a ghost. Is there any truth to the claims that are being made about this place? Any information you might have or personal experiences I would love to hear and would be extremely grateful for. You can email me if you like at [email protected]. Also what is the weather like in Louisiana in mid October? Thanks so much, Kim

Hi, I have been to The Myrtles Plantation, but too scared to spend the night.  First of all the food at the resturant is great!  Had two different meals there.  I have had friends stay and they all have stories of ghost interaction.   Oct weather in Louisiana is "if you dont like the weather in Louisiana wait a minute and it will change" and that is so true in Oct.  It could be in 90s or it could be a high in the 60s.   The nights could range from lows in the 70s to the 40s in Oct.   Plus the weahter can change overnight to the extreme that time of the year.  Just check the weather channel.com before packing.  The area is beautiful.....lots of Plantations.   We enjoy going to St.Francisville!

I have never been to the Myrtles Plantation, but I did stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Lafayette, LA that is supposed to be haunted.  It is called Te Freirs (not sure of the spelling).  It was featured on one of the local news shows as being one of the most haunted in LA.  There is also another one named Cretian Point (near Lafayette, I can't remember the name of the little town it is in) that is said to be haunted by a soldier that was shot on a staircase there.  Happy hunting!  Nonnie
