Can anyone tell me if there is a doctor with Ochsner that does the Duodenal Switch?

That is the only surgery that I am intererested in having and since I use Ochsner as my primary sorce of medical doctors, I would like to know if they have a surgeon who does this type of surgery.  I will be using Medicare and personal pay to have the surgery so I am interested in whether there is a surgeon and how much he/she charges.

neither one of the dr's will do it they specifically say that in the seminar that you have to attend before you can even make an appt to see the dr. they will only do the lap-band and gastric bypass. but you need to go to the seminar to get the information and the cost they give you all that information and he explains why he doesnt do the other surgery that your asking about.

Thanks for your prompt reply to my post.  After I posted I called Ochser and they told me that they do not do the doudenal switch.   After much research I have decided that the duodenal switch is the surgery that I want to have.  From what I have learned it is becoming the *Gold Star* surgery.  Therefore, I will wait until the hospital Dr. Warden uses becomes a COE , will accept the Medicare and I will have it with him, there.  My reasons for choosing the duodenal switch are:  The lapband slips and other complications occur with that.  I have spent a lot of time on the lapband forum and a number of people are looking for revisions and I just don't think I would be happy with not having the malabsorption. In reading the RNY forum I find that a lot of the people there are gaining their weight back and I just don't want to spend my only opportunity on something that I am afraid wouldn't fill my needs.   The idea of dumping, being unable to drink when you eat and having to chew chew chew.  As they say, it is a personal choice and for me I do believe that it is the duodenal switch.  In all of the searching and reading I have never found where anyone with the duodenal switch was searching for a revision.  You can drink with your meals, having a fully functioning stomach is a big plus.  No dumping.  DS'rs appear to have an extrodinarily normal life after surgery.  You may loose slower but you loose longer and it is a longer lasting loss, the chance of regain is less likely. This is a one time shot for me and I have to make sure it is something that I can live with.  May you have much success with our choice of surgery.
