Hoping and Praying!

Hi everyone. I am new to the site and board. I have been looking into weight loss surgery for several years now. I am 32, 5'3", and 315 pounds. My husband has a group policy through Cigna, however they have weight loss surgery as an exception on his policy. Does anyone know any surgeons that offer the surgery financing. We do not have good credit, but we have good payment history with several loan companies. My health is deteriating and I really need to get this done. If anyone can help...I would appreciate it. I will travel to other areas if need be. I reside in New Iberia, La. Thanks for any help I can get! Tanja

Hi Tanja, I don't think this is rare, so you will find it with other doctor's practices. My doctors, in Baton Rouge, have worked with patients who have financing through a program at AmSouth Bank. They (the bank) have a program specifically for medical expenses not covered by insurance. My doctor is from up the road in Breaux Bridge -- neat guy. Hi, I know it stinks that some insurance companies don't want to pay for the surgery, which is stupid on their part because they will end up paying much more in the end since the health problems assoc. with obesity will cost companies billions. There are some companies that will finance the surgery for you. I am sure if you go online and do a search, you will find many to choose from. Just be careful that you make sure the company is reputable and will come through for you first. Don't take no for an answer either. My insurance company said no at first and they even said they would never pay for the surgery. Well, I bugged them so much that they finally paid for it!!!
