Help me decide
if you could read some of my old post i think they might help you i was a basket case. i went as far to write my kids a letter on how to be good men and my best memories of them. i almost didn't go thru with the surgery . but now i am glad i did i have lost 200+ in the last 6 months. you will be fine. as long as you trust your dr and the people around him. and have faith that Your in Gods hands you will be fine. in the beginning i would not of done it again and i would curse anybody who told me it was a good idea but now i would do it again. your life will change just be ready for it. as far as complications i have had none! good luck!!
If I had it to do all over again, I would in a New York minute!! I started at 250 lbs on 2/20/06. I am now at 135 and loving every minute of it. I had no major complications, however, in retrospect, I would have made sure they took my gallbladder at the time of the surgery! I spent eight days in the hospital with a gangrenous gallbladder and almost died efore they found the problem. Sever weight loss almost always affects the gallbladder.
My life has so much more adventure in it now. I can do anything I want to and am back at activities I could not participate in for years. Maybe I am not the foremost authority on GBS, but for me it worked and is one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given.
Hello Liz,
If I'd had insurance, I'd have done it 4 years ago. I'm almost 3 months and 50 pounds. I had laproscopic RNY -- gastric bypass and would do it again. Praise God I can say I've had no medical complications and the surgeon I had was an artist. I came out with virtually no pain. When I thought I was having pain -- it was gas.
I haven't had surgery yet, but am researching payment options.
My only suggestion would be to research every type of surgery there is out there and choose the one most appropriate for you.
Go to the other forums on this website, lapband, rny, duodenal switch, just to name three. Research, research, and research some more before you decide which surgery you want to go with. Know what your options are before making a choice.
Good luck on your journey to better health.
