Did any of you switch doctors after surgery? I want to fire my doctor. I have heard a few bad things about him. How does this work with united health care insurance. Can you just switch dotors? Has anyone ever hear of waiting 12 weeks get there first fill? Who does you your fill?

I didn't fire my doctor but due to distance, I did find/use another one. So I am sure you can get another doctor to take over your case, but the insurance thing is the only thing I think will stand in your way, but who knows,, sorry your going through a bad time!

I actually will probably switch doctors once my new job goes into effect. Just because I'm now 9 hrs from my surgeon, and he'll be out of network for me on my new insurance. Kat

Hey Dee, My partner switched doctors after surgery. I don't see why you can't. If you are not recving the treatment that you feel is necessary -- by all means -- switch. I'm presuming you had lap band so I don't know about the time spans in getting your first fill. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you.

If you are not happy with your Dr. then by all means you should switch. I am a new bander but I still am a little confused about the whole fill times. I go in this Thursday to see the PA I think. At first I thought it was going to be like a Dr's appt, but then when I made the appointment the lady mentioned class. I don't think it's from them not telling me, I think it was from me not listening at some point. I have heard of people go in 1 wk post op to get their band filled and then I have heard some say 6 wks. So I guess you have to weigh your options and look for satisfaction. Check around, call the Dr's offices in your area that you find are experienced with Lap Band and call and ask them questions, ask to speak to the nurse or PA before you make the big switch.
