Just checkin in----I'm still alive!!!!
Hi all-Just checkin in to see how everyone is and to see who is still posting on the board. It has been quite a while since I posted. On January 10 I had a pannectomy, I think that is the way that you spell it, and on January 11 they opened me up again and stopped the hemmoraging, Got out after 4 or 5 days, down an additional 15 pounds and without 4 square feet of skin. Then had some problems with healing and the incision opened up and on Valentine's Day they took me back to the operating room to really debreed it well, only to find infection running rampant. So then I ended up with a stomach that was pretty bad. They put a wound vac on me and I wore that fun little item for a month and just this past Thursday they took that off and now I am having wound dressing changes once a day by a home health nurse. But it wasn't all bad, I broke my weight lose of 200 pounds while this was going on and I am now on the downhill side of this weight loss journey. I have 49 pounds till goal. I really think that the pain and aggravation that I have gone through from the get go was in some way God's way of pounding it into my head to never ever let myself lose control again. And with His help, I won't. Well, just wanted to say to everyone and hope to be able to get to some meetings and start living life again. Debbie
Hiya Debbie,
I've been wondering about you and I guess you have been down a "baaaad road." I did the open abdominal infection-wound vac thing and it's sooo unpleasant. I'm sorry to hear you've been down and hurting.
I'm looking into the panniculectomy for sometime this year. Did Dr. Martin perform yours? I had a chance to briefly meet him recently. I had read a lot about him and his charm, professionalism and knowledge of bariatrics was impressive.
Hope to see you again or at least hear from you soon.
Onward!
Frances
Hey Debbie!!!
I had gotten your message about a month after you left it- dang cell phone!
I did call you back and left a message but I had no idea that you were going through all of that. I have been thinking about you though. Call me on my home phone if you still have that number, I rarely hear my cell.
Debbie
