I am a month out from my surgery and I am having trouble eating anthing other than beans, cottage cheese and yogurt. Everything else I try to eat (baked fish, boiled eggs, etc) makes me nauseaous and I wind up vomitting after alot of repeating of the food. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I be concerned?

Hi Ann, It sounds like you may be getting a stricture. I had one about 10 weeks after (6 weeks is when they usually start) but I waited about 3-4 weeks too long. I had an EGD with dilatation and everything was fine for about 2 weeks. Then 3 weeks after the first EGD, I developed another stricture. I had the 2nd EGD with dilatation on Feb 16 and have had no problems since then. I was told by my dr that the first and second ones are very common. He's never done a 3rd and I don't want to be the first pt of his to have the 3rd! Actually, it is nothing you are doing and it was nothing I was doing to cause the strictures. They are just a very common complication of any type of surgery (incision). Check with your dr and let him know exactly what is happening with you. He will be able to tell what it is. Please don't wait like I did!! I will be praying for you! Deidrah

A lot of people have trouble with eggs some people never eat them again. And the fish are you cooking it with oil or butter cause that can cause you to get sick too. It could be any number of things. You body may not be ready for other foods just yet. Just keep trying different things. Something you can't eat this week you may be able to eat next week. I'm 17 months out and somethings I've been eating for a year can occasionally make me sick for not reason. But if it is a real concern for you talk to your doctor they can help you more than anyone can.
