Autism Walk in Lafayette, LA
We are doing our first ever Walk of Hope benefitting Acadiana Society for Autistic Citizens on March 31, 2007 in Lafayette, LA. I haven't been on OH lately as much as I would like because I've been volunteering with ASAC and helping my husband with the Boy Scouts since several dads are having medical problems. I miss spend the time here but my kids will be in college before I realize it so....
I am a year and half out and about a hundred pounds down. I updated my profile with some new pictures from Mardi Gras in New Orleans. We had a blast! I'm still losing VERY slowly but at least not going the other way.
If you are interested you can view my son's page or donate to ASAC by clicking the link or the widget on my profile which will lead you to his page

We are forming a team for each of our children and this is my son's page. My son has Asperger's Syndrome on the Autism Spectrum. He enjoys being a Boy Scout, a member of his school band and reading books.
Thanks, Anne
Hi,
My name is sizeabledifference. I had read your message about three weeks ago. When I read it for the first time, I was interested in walking for your cause. The next day after reading it, my daughter, who lives in Lafayette and attends UL, called me up and said mama, I enrolled you to walk with me for the autism walk. Well about four years ago, I could not have ventured in this event. But, since I had my bypass four years ago and am down approximately 150 pounds later, I am proud to take part in this event. I hope many more people help you with this cause. I do not know anyone personnally with this condition, but my daughter will save the world with her good intentions. Last week we walked for the cancer walk. This Friday, she has me giving blood. The young lady is remarkable and she really cares about people. Of course, she takes mama along. I don't mind because this makes me have to stay healthy so I can take part in all these natural causes. Good luck with your walk.
Kathleen, thanks so much for the support! It is our first walk but is going quite well. I hope to see you there. I will be in a yellow staff shirt and working the merchandise table from 8-10am.
In our Autism group we have 3 of us who have had the bypass, including my husband & I. Looking at your profile I noticed my brother-in-law had the same surgeon as you for his bypass. He has done wonderful with his weight loss also. My husband & I had to go to New Orleans due to insurance coverage. It would have been so much easier to drive 15 minutes to New Iberia!
Thanks again and thank your daughter -- we need more like her!!!
