Anyone near Baton Rouge?

Just checking in to see if there are any of you that live near Baton Rouge that are involved in a nearby support group and/or interested in getting together for dinner. I just moved here from Birmingham and am in the process of unloading boxes. Hopefully when I get settled, I can get to meet some of you and become involved here in support like I am in Alabama. Well hello and welcome. I see you are from Prairieville. I'm right around the corner in St. Amant. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend any support group meetings since I am only 10 days out from VGS surgery. However, I will be attending the meetings held at Vista Surgical Hospital on Perkins Road on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Dr. Hargroder's office sponsors the meetings. (Clearing throat) Well, you know... Prairieville (and St. Amant!) are really not all that far from Metairie. Surely you can justify getting together with us at Puccino's next to Lakeside Mall at around 6:00 on the first Thursday of each month, can't you? You can even make it a day trip and visit the mall beforehand.

I get off of wark at 5:30pm in BR. If even it falls on a day off or on the weekend, I will be sure to make an effort to be there. Thanks for the heads up! Beth M

I live in Denham Springs. My surgeons office has a support group that is open to anyone, it is the first Thursday of the month ant 6:30, at OLOL. I would enjoy getting together with you sometime! Cindee

Hi Beth and welcome to the area. OHLA -- ObesityHelp Louisiana will soon be starting meetings in either Baton Rouge or the Denham Springs area. New U -- Will be meeting the first Thursday of every month at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. There's a new women's fitness center near the Mall of Louisiana -- Contours Express -- and I can get you a week's pass if you want to join some of us for a work out and meet some new people. If you want to just "meet" somewhere, just choose a date and a place and post it here, somebody will probably respond. Hi Beth and welcome to Louisiana. I live in Denham Springs but I'm from Alabama too. We moved here from Prattville three years ago. We use to have a great support group going but people just stopped coming, hopefully Frances can get it going again. Hope your settling in well. Tina
