Need some help
Ok I have a question I am hoping I am doing everything right I am now 5 months out from having my gastric bypass and I am down 86 pds . I feel that I should have lost more weight. But have noticed I can eat just about anything I dont know if that is a good thing or not but there isnt anything that bothers me and I am afraid i will fall back into a old trap. Another issue I am facing I have started birth control and notice that I am snacking on food alot as well . I know it probalby isnt all due to that but just wondering what am I doing wrong or what can I do to change it . I am also bored and depressed my husband is deployed to iraq so all that isnt helping either. I do go to the gym 3 times a week . But was just wondering.
I'm 6 and a half months out and 95 lbs. down, and I feel the same way. However, I try to remember that there is NO WAY I could ever have lost anywhere near this much weight on my own. I feel extremely thankful that I've been able to lose weight and improve my health. Besides, you're probably right on track with the rate of your weight loss. Some people lose faster than you did, but others lose more slowly.
As for snacking, well, I don't know what to tell you because lately I've been snacking too. I just try to make sure whatever I snack on is good for me. I also try not to buy tempting or "forbidden" snacks, so usually, when I feel like snacking, I eat a piece of cheese or a spoon of peanut butter. So, yes, it is technically snacking, but it's a far cry from the huge amounts of detestable stuff I used to consider a snack.
As for the gym, are you doing more weight/resistance exercise than cardio? My trainer noticed that I was doing that, and she told me to step up my cardio, or else I would gain pounds and inches despite exercising.
Hope your husband gets home soon.
Hey, Traci
You and I had our surgeries just a couple weeks apart. I'll be 5 months out this coming Wednesday and I've lost 83 lbs, so we're just about the same weight loss-wise. I sometimes feel the way you do, but you know what? We're doing just fine! Losing 86 and 83 lbs in 5 months is awesome!
There isn't anything that bothers my pouch either and I have days when I snack more, usually around "that time of the month", but I usually snack on healthy things because I don't buy the things I know I can't eat. If you feel as if you're snacking too much maybe brush your teeth or pop a mint in your mouth instead of eating something. That tends to work for me. I sometimes will have a glass of skim milk instead of eating something.
