Pain when you eat?

I had my surgery on 12/16/05. I still have pain sometimes when I eat. I some fish and am hurting quite a bit. I may have eaten a little too fast, but not enough to hurt this much. I did have an ulcer early on and I understand they can still act up from time to time. Does anyone still have pain when eating certain things, or maybe from one day to another. There doesn't seem to be a pattern. Thanks

Where is the pain? Is it in your chest? If so, you might have eaten too much. For RNY, our pouches are basically in our chests, and when we start to feel full, we feel pressure in our chests (that's also where we feel hunger -- it's like an empty feeling). If we continue to eat beyond that point, that pressure becomes pain. That pain can also occur as a result of eating too fast or not chewing enough. If the pain is more of a stomach cramping lower in your abdomen, that might be a symptom of dumping. If your fish was very fatty or had a sugary sauce on it, you might have had a slight dumping episode (I dumped terribly on fatty fish early on after surgery). Just be careful of things that are high in fat or sugar. Good luck!

My surgery was 9/26/04 and I still have occasional pain when I eat too much or too fast. Not often anymore, but sometimes, yes!! Some foods still just "don't sit" well with me, too. Fish is one of them. It seems to "pack down" too much in my pouch and cause pain. You might should check with your doctor in case it is the "ulcer" thing acting up... Better safe than sorry.
