in network surgeon wanted!!!

It's so not fair!!!!! I talked to my insurance co. today and they told me they seen no problems what so ever in approving my wls...i have met everything so far except attend the seminar which im scheduled for jan 24th...but...i have a MAJOR PROBLEM!!!!! I cant find not one single bariatrics surgeon in my area that in network with United Health Care Insurance....so...if you are from louisiana and you know one that does....please,please,please,im down on my knees begging you...to respond...thanks!!!

oh yeah....and do you know if he goes out to baton rouge for surgeries?

Dr. Karl LeBlanc and Dr. Mark Hausmann are in Baton Rouge and are in UHC networks -- I think there may be several. I've know both of these surgeons and they are wonderful. Call their office and ask for Genie or Amy @ 225.769-5656. I've heard good things about Dr. Chung also and his bariatric coordinator Marcie is a member of this board. I'm from Lake Charles and I now live in Baton Rouge, so if you need anything in these areas, please let me know. All my best, Frances

They are in UHC's network for any surgery but WLS I tried all of them.

I had the same problem as you are having. I am in the Baton Rouge area and there are a lot of doctors here in my network, but the hospital they do the operation at are not. Dr. LeBlanc and Hausman were in my UHC network as surgeons but not for wls. All of the doctors at Vista were in my network, but not Vista. I ended up going to Dr. William Richardson at Oschners in New Orleans. Was very please with him. Good luck.

Bobby--Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Richardson with Ochsner in N.O. are covered by UHC. I attended my first seminar in Sept. and my surgery is Monday. I was shocked by how fast it went and Dr. Kennedy's office handled everything very professionally. Good luck. Jen
