i am also looking for a doctor in louisiana that takes medicaid for lap band. i am even to cover some of the cost if needed i just cant afford the large amount required.  its funn that you can have the lap band in mexico for 7000 dollars but is double or more here! [email protected]

Hey guys. I was just wondering if any of you have called Medicaid and asked if they even cover Weight Loss Surgery. The reason I ask that is because when I had Medicaid as my primary insurance, I was told that they didn't cover WLS period. I now have Medicare primary and Medicaid Secondary and they will pick up the additional pay that Medicare doesn't pay but they won't pay for it outright. You might want to check into that before going crazy trying to find a doctor. You can also try Surgical Specialists of Louisiana in Lafayette. They are the ones doing my surgery and if anyone is going to accept Medicaid it would be them. Good luck on your journeys! God bless you!
