My personal experience with depo was not a good one I was on it before surgery and gained almost 100lbs and it really messed my system up bad. I had to go through alot to straighten it back out it took three years and surgery to get it back in order. Some will say it's fine and didn't bother them, I'm just telling you my personal experience with it. My sister also had a bad experience with it as well she started bleeding and never stopped the whole time she was on it. So please do as much research on it as you can before going that route. On the birth control pills part, I was on cryselle after surgery and it worked fine for me. I took it for a year. I'm pregnant now but that was by choice. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Much like Tina, I also want to try (again!) to conceive as soon as humanly possible. I'm on OrthoTriCyclen LO, on the recommendations of both my PCP and OB/GYN. It's an effective contraceptive, but it will be out of your system almost as soon as you stop taking it. I've been losing weight at what I think is an average pace for RNY, so I don't think it has hindered my weight loss. Now, my PCP strongly recommended the NuvaRing, but I just didn't feel it would be right for me. That said, I think it would be a great option if you're comfortable with it. Talk to your doctor and see what he/she has to say.

I went and had the IUD w/no hormones put in. Due to my weight and family history I'm not a good candidate for hormones.
