Hi I am new to the site. My husband works for jefferson parish sherrifs office and I am having trouble getting approval from the insurance company. I have been declined 2 times. The first time I was told I needed 6 months of documented weight loss with a dietician. Now after going 6 months im told I need 6 months of documented weight loss and a physician supervised exercise program. I am now going to omega to a dietician but I need a doctor willing to document my exercise. Has anyone had this problem please help.

I've always thought that whichever physician was in charge of your weight loss would be in charge of your exercise. I would think the easiest way to do this would be to see your PCP regularly and asking him/her to keep a weight loss chart and a record of your exercise. Meanwhile, most fitness centers (even Curves) keep track of your attendance in some way (either with cards that you pick up and use to chart your exercise, or with the bar-code on your membership card). You might want to call your insurance company and ask exactly what the requirements are, specifically whether the physician has to be the one to document your exercise or if he/she just has to supervise it from a medical standpoint. Also ask if copies of your attendance logs from the gym or Curves would be OK as documentation. Good luck!
