Public school teachers?

Hi, everyone. I was wondering if anyone here has had group insurance for Louisiana public school teachers pay for WLS. If so, under which plan were you insured? If not, does anyone know whether any of the state group plans for teachers covers WLS or if they will in the future? Thanks a million!

I have known a few teachers here in the Shreveport area that had the surgery but I have no idea who the insurance was with. There is one teacher that I would call and ask just need to try and find out where she is teaching these days, she has since married and I don't know her new name. I will try to track her down and ask what insurance she had and let you know. I know she won't have a problem with me calling her. Jodi

Thank you so much, Jodi. I really don't want to trouble you to go to such lengths to get this information, because it's not that important -- I'm just curious about teachers' insurance plans. My sister is a public school teacher, and I have a feeling she's interested in WLS. She had a major mix-up with her insurance and has to choose insurance all over again, so I figured I would let her know which plans cover WLS.

Well, I got in touch but didn't get the information you were looking forward. At the time she was married to her first husband and covered under his policy. At least by you asking I got to talk with her. She was really my inspiration for looking into WLS. not a teacher, but my hubby works for caddo parish school board, as a pc tech, and i am on his insurance. approved with blue cross blue shield of louisiana, out of pocket was 20%. Hope this helps. Billie
