I have surgery on 11/30/06. I arrived home on 12/1. I had the VSG and I feel great. The main problem I am having is the gas pains in my chest. Is this normal? I have been using a heating pain on my back hoping this will help. If anyone has had this after their surgery, how long did it take before it was gone? Thanks, Mary

The best thing you can do for gas pains is get up and walk. I know it can be hard but that is the best thing to do. I had severe gas pains with my RNY and when I had my gall bladder out. That was the only discomfort that I had. It will get better. Jodi

Thanks Jodi. I am walking and today starting walking on the treadmill. I feel that a couple more days and I will feel better. Everything else is fine. Again, Thanks, Mary

Hi Mary Congrats on your surgery! I am pre-op for VSG. I read the VSG board all the time they all say things get better by day 5, sip sip sip and walk as much as you can. Hope you feel better soon. Mel B.

Mary, I'm glad you're home and doing well. Yes, the gas is completely normal, but the only way to lose it is to move around. Get up and moving as much as possible. Good luck!

Glad everything went well with your surgery. Everyone is right, walking is the best thing for the gas. I hope you feel better soon! Take care, Bejai!
