I had my surgery on nov 17 in mexico and my stitches was removed on Monday but when my doc removed my stitches at the big incision there was a gap like I had maybe torn a stitch or something. I'm having lots of drainage from this and am taking antibiotics again but was wondering if this ever happen to anyone and what they done

I wish I had an answer for you, but I had no stitches (I had lap RNY and my incisions were covered with steri-strips), so I don't know about . I had a couple incisions on which I had to keep band-aids for a few days because they were oozing a bit. At my 2-week follow-up, my surgeon cleaned them up a bit and told me they would heal from the inside out, so no big deal. I hope everything works out for you.

Hey, Paula: How are you doing otherwise than the stitch problem? Glad to see you are back safe and sound! Take care, CJ

Take this with a grain of salt, since I am no professional. I think it may be a bit normal for the oozing. Make sure the incisions are not red like being infected. Like Daydream said you will heal from the inside out. I had surgery for an absess and they left the incision open it was a good two inches long. Personally looking at it I thought it was about a foot long but it was on my body. Anyways, I did have it packed and had to change the packing daily but it did heal and I have no scar what so ever. When I was told it was left open I freaked out. Just make sure it does not get infected.

Hi Paula, Have you called your doctor in Mexico? I also had my lap band surgery in Mexico by Dr. Aceves...He is wonderful...I do remember them telling me that my incision may drain not to worry just keep it clean and dry...But I had no problems with mine opening...If I were you I'd call the Mexico Dr. and ask if that is normal. You don't want to get an infection... Where will you get your fills? I was going to go to Dallas but I did find a Dr. Barnes at Sheveport $350.00 for the 1st visit...Not bad... Hope you get your incision fixed... ~Rena
