Lap band vs RNY in La.
Hi Rena, thank you for your response. Glad to hear Medicare/Medicaid paid for their surgery. Hope mine goes as smoothly as theirs did. I have Medicare and BC/BS of Al so I am hoping they will pay most of the cost. Thank you for the compliment. I had Neal McCoy (country singer if you don't know who he is) all hugged up with me and he was saying something awfully funny, evidently.
I had originally thought about a lap band. When I went into see the Surgeon for my consult, I thought that was what I wanted. My insurance would not cover a lap band, and after listening to the doc, I decided that RNY was a better choice for me anyway, b/c I do tend to love eating sweets and fatty/fried foods. The RNY kind of has a built in deterrant for that, if you know what I mean... LOL.
Brenda,
I am still deciding which surgery to have. I have a conflict with myself over which one to go with. I like the idea of less invasive, risky; however, need the discipline of the RNY. I tend to eat fried foods and sweets. I am afraid that I will continue to do that after the Lap Band. My insurance has approved me for both and my doctor recommends the RNY because of my eating habits. I'm just really scared. Good luck to you, i'll be checking in periodically to see how things are going.
