Hmmmm, it seems every surgeon has a different take on what we should and shouldn't consume at each stage post-op, but it seems most practices want their RNY patients to wait at least 6 months before trying alcohol. Because of your new anatomy, you will be a very cheap drunk, so be careful. If you're still in doubt, just give your surgeon's office a call.

I didn't have a drink for almost 9 months and when I did, I dumped horrible. Ruined my evening. You might want to consider how sensitive your 'lil pouch is at the present time. Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday! Peggy B.

I had my surgery at the end of September and by Thanksgiving the doctor said if I wanted to have a glass of wine over the holidays it would be fine. He told me this without even asking. I don't drink wine so he said even a mixed drink would be fine just becareful with the sugar because the mixes are usually full of sugar. He said to try it at home before I went out and did it just to see how I would react to it. Me being afraid of the sugar just went straight for the tequila and one shot later I was tipsy. So becareful you may feel the affects alot sooner than before. Tina
