Cold drinks
Can you tell me again, why it is we shouldn't drink diet carbonated cold drinks? Just wondering.
Yuckie weather. Hope you all are safe and dry.
I made the best bean soup this weekend with ground beef in it.. I think I found it either on the LA or Texas site.. cest bon. :-) I lost 4 lbs. last week..Cheese & all.. That's 80 lbs. since my first visit with Dr. Chung & Marcie..
Polly, My Dr. in Alabama said that carbonated soft drinks will make our mew tummy's blow up like a balloon so that is the reason I stay away. But I will tell you that Ihave had some. I have let the Ice melt in it a little so that the carbonation is not as strong. But I only drink about 4 oz. and that is enough for me for about 3 to 4 weeks and then I want just another small drink again. But PLEASE do not over do it. I'm like you I really miss a GOOD DIET SODA. Dorothy
Yes, it is the carbonation that will get you. Usually, you have acid in your stomach that can help to eliminate some of the carbon dioxide in the sodas. Have you tried it yet? (I did...shhhh). As long as you have small sips, you can have it in your pouch without distending it, or blowing it up too badly. That's not the part that hurts, though...it's when that carbon dioxide gets to the small intestine and starts to diffuse across the intestines, leaving gas in the abdominal cavity. OWWEEEEEEE. It causes the worst cramps. I still have my Diet Dr. Pepper at least twice weekly, but if it's on an empty stomach, I pay for it and promise to never do it again...until the next time.
So, proceed with caution. And, always choose Diet Sodas. Liquid calories will get ya. Oh...AND CONGRATS ON THE 80 LBS!!! You thought it wouldn't come off....hee hee. Who's right now? Told ya.
You are right... I am loosing and it is fantastic.
Let's drink a diet Dr. Pepper to that one..
Marcie, you were my original inspiration. When I saw the picture of where you were at one time and where you are now, I figuired, if you can I can.
The fear now is when I see someone that has taken it off & is gaining it back.
Don't want that to happen. I need to work on the mind games that are still in my head. Any advice on breaking the old snack habits. Meals aren't the problem, snacks are. I want something salty & crunchy.. any suggestions is appreciated.
THANK YOU! I inspire myself sometimes. I catch a glimpse in the mirror and it makes me remember to eat the right way to keep things this way. I wish I could figure out how to put my pic next to my name on my posts. I am so computer illiterate.
As for snacking.....my BEST friends are called Beef Jerky (Jack Links sweet and hot) and Dry Roasted unsaled Peanuts. Yum. Salty and Crunchy.
As for weight regain...just stay in contact with us. It's a tool and together, we can make sure that you get the most benefit from it.
And, by the way, Dr. Chung said I am mentally deficient and that the pain caused by carbonated drinks IS NOT CO2 diffusing into abdomen, but the gas bubbles collecting in the intestines into one large bubble, stretching the intestine, causing pain. So, there it is. Straight from the horses' mouth.
