1 WOW moment of hernia surgery!
As most of you know, I had open hernia surgery this last Friday. My follow-up isn't until Friday. The nurse told me over the phone that I could finally take a shower but not to get the bandages wet.
Okay, y'all can laugh. I did. Hubby helped me get ready for the longed for shower. He wrapped my bandages and drain with syran wrap. He wrapped the stuff around my mid-section three times. Boy! Did that shower feel great. (It had been sponge baths for five days mind you.) Well, when I went to wash my legs I fel****er squish to the front. Yup! You guessed i****er did manage to find a way behind the plastic by running down my spin. When I bent it squished the water around to the front and my bandage got wet.
Anyhow, after my shower we had no choice but to change the bandages around my drain and the incisison which is probably four inches in length and a bunch of stitches.
The WOW moment came when the old bandages came off and I discovered my surgery had given me a mini tummy tuck! My mole that used to be at least and inch and a half to the right of my incision line was now right beside the new incision line! He removed at least three inches of excess skin from around my middle! Wahoo!
Before surgery he had asked me if I wanted him to refer me to a plastic surgeon for a tummy tuck and at first I said yes but then not being a big fan of pain, quickly backed out after hearing what the procedure would entail. Thankfully, my weight was distributed over my entire body and I never had a bunch of hanging skin after losing the weight. My insurance wouldn't have covered a tummy tuck anyhow.
Anyhow, I am estatic that he did this small mini tummy tuck for me! I can't wait to get back on my feet and able to try on those fall pants to see how they fit around my waist now that the "alien" is gone (hernia) and some of the extra skin has been removed. That'll be another WOW moment to look forward to soon I hope!
Praying that everyone here has had a big WOW moment, too!

Woohoo PeggyB!
Having both multiple hernias and tummy skin "issues," I know how exciting this must be for you. It's been 8 months since my last hernia surgery and I think I'm finally home free (of them). I hope to get a TT or at least panni removal within the year. My doctor teased about the mini-tummy tuck, but none of my repairs lent themselves to it.
I'm thrilled you got yours!
