I Need Help
I am a newbie and I am looking for advice on other ways to get weight loss surgery!
I joined the Army 2 days after September 11th 2001 to serve my country and left behind 2 beautiful babies. After serving 3 years in the Army, I got put out due to an injury that could not be fixed and was not able to work out! I got pregnant and the doctor put me on bed rest due to the loss of my son after his birth. I went from 150 pounds to my current weight which is 250 pounds and I have other medical problems that hinder me from being able to work out! I have medicaid and I am here in Louisiana, but as of now, no one accepts medicaid anymore and I've tried to get loans, but my credit isn't good enough, My husbands insurance won't cover my weight loss surgery and I feel I have ran out of options. I can't afford it out of pocket and my health is getting worse! Dr. Karl Ordoyne was suppose to do my surgery, but as of last month, they told me I couldn't have it done because they don't except medicaid anymore from people that are not in a 60 mile radius of them and I live 4 hrs away from Covington! I am getting sicker and bigger and I need help! My BMI is 44.1 and depression is getting worse! The VA messed up my paperwork when I got out and I just found out it is going to be a year and a half or longer before they get this taking care of! I don't know what to do! Any suggestions on other ways to get this surgery because I don't want to die this way! I served my country for 3 years and now that I need help, no one is there for me:-) Please Help Me!!!! I've tried every diet in the world, you name it, I've tried it!
Shatika,
I can offer you no help, sorry. I am in the opposite part of the state.
I do want to thankyou for serving in the Army after 9/11. Sorry things did not work out for you and that you are having the trouble that you are having.
If I were you I would set up an appt and let the Dr. tell you face to face that he won't do your surgery. I don't understand the logic of the 60 mile radius. Doesn't make sense to me. I know plenty of people that have traveled for their surgery. Heck people travel out of the country for it.
Wish you the best,
Jodi
I don't know anything about his practice or whether or no he accepts medicaid, however he is near you in Lake Charles.

I'm sure some of the others can give you some information on him.
Good luck,

Shatika,
Hi, did you go to a seminar that Dr. Ordonye gave? I went May 15 and i have Medicaid also. But they are still gonna take me because i had already gone to a seminar and had already have started tests ordered by my pcp.
Also you can contact your area State Representative and see if they can get anything done sooner. Also you can check to see there is a DAV - Disabled American Veteran's group in your area they may be able to suggest and help you. Also you could call the closet American Legion office. My father was retired from the Army and did 2 tours in Vietnam and was faithful to his military grps and brothers and sisters in arms. You so deserve to get your surgery i admire all our veterans and those who are currently serving thanks. If theres anything else i can help with let me know email me. Good luck and god bless u [email protected]
