30 years life span , after having the surgery
I am sure everyone is probably gonna be laughing about this , But I told a friend I was getting the surgery done and she said she had heard that once you get the surgery you will only live for 30 years from the date of the surgery. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this before or was this just something stupid said.
Hey....I've had a lot of people tell me that in a couple of years I'll be fat again because they've seen so many people gain weight back plus more! I just don't pay attention to them because I know that surgery is just a tool to help me live a better and longer healthier life! It really does depend on us in years and we take care of ourselves!
Don't let any one discourage you!!!!
Good Luck on your journey!

LOL Tracy, that is a good one. Life's not guaranteed anyway. You could have the surgery, be fine, and have an accident a year later. Ask your friend where she received her information from. If she says, " I heard, I saw once, or a friend of a friend told me", then blow it off. If by some miracle, she can quote a specific doctor and study with exact facts and data, then let me know so I can work on my obit. I spent almost three years researching this surgery and never once found that piece of info. Hope you have a good, safe, and healthy day........but be careful, you might die 75 years from today! LOL

Those of us who are getting "long in the tooth" are actually glad for the glacious extension of life that long.
Let's see, 70+ years old with no insulin shots, an active life, all my limbs and a decent bit of my hair and teeth.
PUT THAT PUPPY IN WRITING
Truth is everyone recalls the 1 in 200th that has negative effects and no one can catch a glimpse of the other 199 cause they are dancing their buns off.
I'm not 40 and I've had a glimpse of congestive heart failure, multiple hernias, ICU, CCU, hypertensive heart disease. They have never walked in my shoes (which are now too big) and they have no right to dig my grave.
Onward!
Frances -- so much better!
Ask your friend how long you could expect to live with obesity, which will turn into diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, congestive heart failure and more, given time.
Tell her you are being proactive in your own health care and that 30 fabulous years are far better than 10, 20 or FORTY miserable years. We all deserve health and happiness. You're just taking the somewhat scary steps necessary to achieve those goals for yourself.

Hey I am all about 30 more years -- I am going to be 37 in 2 weeks and if I last until I am 67 I will PRAISE and be happy to go !! I have liver disease because of my weight and they were talking about a liver transplant 5months ago -- NOW my liver is much better and my LIVER ENZYMES are lower than what they were before... Im happy than ever before -- I am healthier than ever before and have more energy NOW than I can EVER recall EVER having..... and if they told me... Steph because of this surgery you will only live 15 more years... I would still do it to be happy and healthy for only a short time... HAVEA GREAT DAY !!
