Does anyone know if Medicaid will pay for plastic surgery (like the tummy and arms) if it's medically neccessary? And if so, do you know of any surgeon that accepts medicaid for plastic surgery? Thanks!

i don't know but i was told that if ur belly hangs a certain amount of inches and u have constant rashes that u can call and ask them who they recommend ! But on the other hand i was looking at ur profile and we use the same doc and i weight as much as u did before ur surgery ,I have one question if u don't mind ,did dr.ordoyne tell u he might have to do a lapband first because he didn't want to disappoint u if u came out of surgery and he was not able to do the rny because of ur bmi ? he said he has to tell everyone this because of bmi and he doesn't know until he gets in there and see how much he can move around ! Please let me know !

hey....i've NEVER heard him say anything like that at all, to my knowledge he won't even do a lap band procedure. Only thing he said was it may have to end up being an open rny instead of lap, that is probably what he told you. i really don't beleive he even does bands. first thing after surgery i remember him saying is it was done lap meaning laproscopy.....i think u may have misunderstood. I'd call the office to double check, but pretty sure he does not do lap bands at all!!

umm butting in here, but as far as I know he does not do lap bands because he feels they mostly turn into RNYs. He is now telling people that due to their BMI he may have to do a gastric sleeve or an open.

I don't know if they will cover it or not but you probably will have a hard time finding a doctor that will take it. Doctors have such a hard time getting medicaid to pay I doubt a plastic surgeon will even bother jumping through the hoops to take it.
