So upset!!!
Lauren,
Ditto the feelings for me 8 months ago. I lost 18lbs or so the first two weeks then stopped for about two weeks. I was the one this surgery failed. I was so upset. I did my protein, I had to work my way up. There was no way I could get 60-80 grams in a day. I was lucky to get 50grams. I just didn't want to eat plus my surgeons post op diet is one of the strictest I have seen. I even gained weight during this time.
Lets jump ahead 8 months.....which was this past Saturday. I hit goal at 7 1/2 months. I am considered a lightweight but non the less I hit my goal and lost 80lbs. This surgery does work, I promise. Just work your tool follow your surgeons protocol.
I promised the times that I hit stall and I hit many or so it seemed. I lost inches. After my last child was born 11 1/2 years ago I did lose down to 125 but I can promise you I am smaller now in places and I weight 137. I have lost so much in my thighs and I swear there is no butt to be found, not that I am looking.
It is so easy for me to say don't be upset, but girl I was there and I felt all the same things. I promise you in 8 months to a year maybe even sooner you will be posting the same thing to another new post-op. Hang in there!!!!!!!!
Hugs,
Jodi
Hi, there! I'm about 3-1/2 weeks out, and I've hit a plateau too. Then again, it might have to do with my TOM (which is a few days late, and I know there's no way on earth I'm pregnant, so I'm a little concerned). My surgeon warned me that this would happen, too, and he said I'd just have to wait it out and be sure to get my protein and water in.
As for protein, I really like a product called Juven. You can get it at juven.com, but Rite-Aid stores have also started selling it. It comes in a white box with either orange or purple writing (for the orange and grape flavors). It's not really protein, per se, but the dietitians at Ochsner recommend it because it contains the right amino acids that re-combine in the body to form protein. A word to the wise: the orange flavor is pretty good and tastes a little like orange Gatorade, but the grape flavor is just plain nasty -- to me, at least.
Good luck -- I'm sure we'll cross over this plateau just fine!
Oh Honey, I am soooooo sorry that you are experiencing a plateau this early on, but just be patient. It WILL come off!!! And 20 lbs. in two weeks is FABULOUS!!! Make sure that you are getting at LEAST 800 calories per day (or whatever your doctor recommends). Your body will go into "starvation mode" and sorta "shut down" if you are not getting enough, BUT, it will NOT stay in that mode forever whether you start eating enough or not!! Just keep doing what you know to do and maybe don't weigh EVERY day. That scale will not ALWAYS tell you the truth!!! Hang in there and you will be fine!!!
Hugs, Pam
Thanks so much everyone. You all had some great suggestions. I am thrilled to say I weighed this AM and the plateau has broken.... i lost 2lbs and was so thrilled!! Oh, and today I was at work (I'm a nurse) and I was freezing and didn't have my jacket... so a friend so i could wear hers, it was a M and OMG I could put it on, just didn't close, but I could put it on. I was amazed. Oh, and I did try the Gladiator from Smoothie King which was very good. I am thinking of trying the Nitro product too.
Thanks everyone!!!!
Lauren
